I would Highly recommend B &B Turf Pros for any landscaping, leveling, drainage issues or sod installation. I had a backyard with very little grass and horrible drainage issues. B & B dug a trench all the way to the street, installed piping and drains to solve my drainage issues. Trench was then carefully filled back with dirt and the grass on top, so that you can barely tell it was dug up. Then, topsoil was used to level the backyard and prepare for sod installation. Excellent quality sod is now covering my backyard.

B&B was in constant contact with me to make sure everything was being done to my satisfaction. If I called with a question, they were right on it. The workers were very nice and polite and cleaned up very well after their work. Fernando, Natalie and Elvia were very helpful on the phone with answering all questions promptly.

If you are looking for very high quality work, I would definitely try B&B Turf Pros.

Alright, so I’ve had 2 separate services with B&B Turf Pros.

March 2024: Top Dress and Aeration

This was like 3/5 in my mind. There was no Crew Manager. Crew just came through, didn’t let me know that they were around, and performed the aeration and top dress. The top dress wasn’t leveled/spread around, and there is still top dressing that is sitting against my foundation. I had to do the leveling on my own, because after they left, there were still pockets of top dress that was higher than others. It was $450 for the top dress, $135 for the aeration for around 1200 sqft of yard.

Honestly, probably not worth it, and I would not recommend it, but it is what it is.

June 2025: Hardscape on front garden bed

First and foremost, the actual hardscape looks pretty good! It honestly exceeded expectations. We’ll see how it stands the test of time. The downside is that due to how spread thin the resources are, things get missed and you as the owner have to be your own advocate and call out defincies.

So how it works is there is a front office person who does the initial quoting and invoicing. That process was fine. Eventually, a project manager/crew lead/supervisor goes to the house to do some estimates on what you want. It’ll be helpful if you have a vision/reference/materials. We probably should have given more up-front information, but I think they did the best estimation that they could and like I said, I think the final product ended up exceeding expectations.

So with the deposit made, we were now in the queue for the job. The problem being we were strung along quite a bit with when the crew would actually arrive. It was a near constant string of “we will get back to you” then not getting back to us. We had the date pushed for when the crew would break ground multiple times. This was okay for us, since I work remotely, so we had that flexibility, but for those who don’t, I would be wary of that.

On the first day the crew were finally able to break ground, the crew lead met me and we went over the plan of work. Some decisions had to be made during the project, and the lead was pretty good about laying out options.

During this time, the crew is left to their own devices, and the lead had to go check on other projects in their portfolio. This is reasonable, and I get it.

After the job was completed, it was immediately found that there were sprinkler heads that were not working correctly and a leak in the sprinkler line. This is annoying, because this means the crew lead did not look over the work after the job was completed, and it was on me to vet it out.

I communicated to the lead the deficiencies, and to their credit, it was mostly addressed. However, we went back to the same problem of poor communication when the work would be done. Part of it was due to the weather, which is fine, but being told that a crew would show up then not show up without follow-up got old pretty fast.

One deficiency about the drainage was communicated, but it was not validated by the front office contact or the crew, so I had to ask the crew to address it. Which is annoying, because I do not know landscaping that in-depth, but I was already burned by issues that should not have been an issue in the first place.

All that to say:

I think the crew does quality work, but the fit and finish/quality assurance of the work leaves a little to be desired (placement of plants were uneven, drainage did not seem to account for grading)

I think the communication of the front office and crew lead is the biggest issue, and if I was not working remotely, this would have been an extremely bigger headache to deal with if I had to constantly shuffle around my schedule for days that a crew that would say they would come but did not come.

I struggled with the thoughts of “letting the experts do their job” vs “being the advocate of my home”.

Would I recommend them again? Man I don’t know I guess. I don’t have a lot of landscaping contractor interactions, so it’s hard to say.

B&B Turf Pros did a wonderful job removing a very large area of old sod and installing new St. Augustine. They also core aerated the existing grass, and applied leaf mold compost to all new and existing grass. Everyone involved, from Elvia in the office, to Fernando who supervised the job, to the crew leaders and crew, were friendly, professional, and clearly knew what they were doing in the multi-stage process to do it right. Thankfully, I learned about them from Skip Richter on KTRH 740 AM Gardenline. Highly recommended!

Happy update 5/23/25 – Roughly a year after my first review, I asked B&B to core aerate and top dress the front and back lawns. Absolutely everything from my first review apples, and are proud of our lawn now. Thanks Fernando, Elvia, staff, and field crew! Wonderful job – these folks are great!

If you’re looking for a great landscaper, don’t hesitate to use B&B Turf Pros. I’ve spent a fortune over the years trying to keep my yard beautiful. I’ve used high-end people that use fancy blueprint landscape design with high prices as well as some inexpensive folks in the neighborhood that unfortunately use lower quality plants/flowers. Both freezes killed our plants twice and we’ve never been able to get our yard beautiful again. I cannot say enough about this company. Elvia and Edwardo were extremely responsive and communicative, they have fair prices and their work is top-notch. They provided a digital design of my house with the proposed plants so I could visualize the work before it was done. Edwardo is extremely knowledgeable and was very patient as I kept changing my mind. My yard went from an ugly half dead mess to a beautifully manicured yard. I will never ever use another landscape company again, they are amazing and I’m genuinely impressed. Highly recommend 10 out of 10 stars.

I recently had B&B Turf Pros install a paver walkway on the side of my house. I highly recommend B&B as they were very attentive to the request and did a great job with the install. They installed a granite base that drained to my existing drain catch basins and placed black star gravel to make the side look uniform. The professionalism was evident on my first call. They were prompt in coming out and giving a quote for how much it would cost for the service I wanted. They returned the next day and serviced my lawn and it was refreshing to see that they really cared and was not there just to make money.
